Environment and Sustainability
As an international organization, we recognize that our business can adversely impact the environment. We aim to follow and promote good sustainability practices, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities and to help our clients, partners, and supply chain to do the same.
Environmental & Sustainability Policy
What we do
We have measures in place to reduce negative impacts on the environment and the communities in which we work.
Travel
Sustainable travel is a key component of our commitment to environmental responsibility. We encourage all staff members to consider the environmental impact of their travel choices. This could mean opting for public transportation or carpooling instead of driving alone, choosing direct flights to reduce carbon emissions, or considering virtual meetings instead of in-person when possible. We further minimise the carbon footprint of our staff by operating a hybrid working model that reduces the need for staff to travel to work.
Waste
We are committed to promoting sustainability through effective waste management. We have implemented a comprehensive waste management strategy that focuses on reducing, reusing, and recycling waste materials wherever possible. Our goal is to minimize our environmental footprint and contribute to a healthier planet. We encourage the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, computer supplies and redundant equipment.
Carbon Emissions
We have identified numerous strategies to reduce our carbon emissions such as:
Promoting public transport and carpooling among staff for daily commutes
Providing facilities for bicycles
Decrease our energy consumption by using energy-efficient appliances and lighting
Prevention, Reuse, Recycle, Recovery and Disposal: RMI follows the EU Waste Framework Directive. We use digital record keeping so our clinics are virtually paperless, recycle equipment where possible, minimise single-use plastics in our clinics and offices and have appointed waste champions in each location.
Our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 is illustrated in our Net Zero Road Map.
Social Value
People are an integral part of our dynamic organization comprised of individuals committed to providing world-class medical care and security provision to people operating in the most remote and challenging locations in the world.
RMI is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in employment. Equality, inclusion, and diversity are at the heart of RMI, we value people as individuals with diverse opinions, cultures, lifestyles and circumstances.
We support wellness for our clients through health promotion activities and internally for our employees via mental health and wellbeing initiatives. RMI is a supporter of the Mental Health at Work Commitment and implements the 6 standards to build the foundations for a positive approach to workplace mental health.
RMI supports the Armed Forces Covenant. A UK national scheme in which RMI promises to support members of the Armed Forces community who work in our business or access our products and services. We ensure our policies encourage reserve service; support the employment of veterans and service spouses/partners; and give the Armed Forces community a fair deal on commercial products and services.
