Executive Team
Duncan Higham
Chief Executive Officer
Duncan Higham founded SSI Risk Management (SSI) in 2012 and SSI Energy in 2016. He successfully grew the SSI Group into a multi-million dollar business before its acquisition by RMI. He graduated from Cardiff University and Imperial College in Economics before receiving emergency medical training in Cape Town, South Africa.
On graduating from university, Mr. Higham served for ten years in the Royal Marines Commandos, leaving post-staff college as a Major. He completed three tours in Afghanistan, the last as Operations Officer for the Royal Marines Commando Brigade conducting offensive operations, where he earned a reputation for delivering solutions under pressure. Amongst the deliverables by his team was the control of casualty evacuation operations through the Operations Room, responsible for the control of all Helicopter Emergency recoveries. Prior to founding SSI, Mr. Higham worked in Iraq for an oil and gas major.
Alex Janzen
Chief Operating Officer
Alex joined RMI in his role as COO on 1st May 2022. He brings over 25 years’ experience in international strategic planning, operational delivery, and leadership and has held senior leadership and board positions in both the public and private sectors. He is passionate about people and is renowned for inspiring employees to fulfill their potential and delight their clients.
Alex served in the Royal Marines for over 20 years reaching the rank of Colonel. During this time, he was Chief of Staff of 3 Commando Brigade, coordinating and managing the UK Task Force delivering UK Government Policy in Afghanistan. He went on to lead 40 Commando Royal Marines, and his last role directly supported the Joint Forces Command where he assisted the development and delivery of transformational change across the organisation.
Alex was awarded his OBE in recognition of service in Afghanistan. He also holds a BA (Hons) in Economics, a CMI Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership, and a Masters Degree in Defence and Security Studies from King’s College London.
Ingrid Onstad
Chief Financial Officer
With 25 years of financial experience in corporate accounting and operations, Ingrid Onstad brings strong leadership and interpersonal skills to the position of Chief Financial Officer for RMI.
Ingrid previously served as the CFO at PhenoPath, a specialty pathology and clinical reference laboratory company focused on cancer diagnostics. She has also provided her financial expertise to Cingular (AT&T wireless), Singlepoint, Dashwire, and Hipcricket.
She holds a CPA Certificate and a BA in Business Administration, Accounting Concentration from the University of Washington, Foster School of Business.
Dr. Richard Misiaszek
Medical Director
Dr. Misiaszek has been with the company since 2017, working initially as the primary topside support physician prior to advancing to his role overseeing all remote healthcare providers and the clinical care delivered across RMI’s global locations. Dr. Misiaszek is passionate about providing the highest quality of care and guidance to all industrial and remote medical projects. He strives for excellence in his role so that RMI clients can optimize health and safety in their myriad and far-reaching missions.
He is a board-certified emergency physician, licensed to practice in several states in the U.S., and practicing Emergency Medicine with RMI as well as continuing in a clinical setting in active Emergency Departments throughout the U.S. since 2008.
Dr. Misiaszek completed his residency in emergency medicine at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA (2011), where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine (2008), and his undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry from Union College (2003), where he graduated summa cum laude.
Dr. Misiaszek has performed biochemical and medical research throughout his training, publishing studies in peer-reviewed journals, including Academic Emergency Medicine, Prehospital Emergency Care, and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. He has been honored for excellence at every stage of his training, including nomination to the scientific, academic, and medical honor societies of Sigma Xi, Phi Beta Kappa, and Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Misiaszek is committed to bringing this level of excellence to remote medicine, RMI’s clients, and all the individuals he serves.
Julian Rawles
Managing Director, UK
Since 2010, Julian Rawles has experience in deep water salvage, oil and gas wellhead intervention, and subsea cable laying operations. He was involved in the creation of the UK’s largest maritime security provider and has successfully directed three companies through Oil Major vetting.
Julian is a qualified Air Traffic Control (ATC) Instructor / Examiner, having trained military ATC students at Royal Navy Air Stations and at sea. He integrated new safety regulations with the introduction of the MERLIN Helicopter while ensuring the continuance of the Search and Rescue (SAR) capability across the South West of England. Julian has experience managing multiple SAR emergencies recovering seafarers using multi-agency cooperation and collaboration. He also has 5 years of experience alongside UK Special Forces, operating in the Maritime Counter Terrorism Role.
During this period he boarded vessels at sea as well as Offshore Energy Installations via helicopter using rope access techniques including fast roping and abseiling. From 2002–2007 he was the helicopter abseil and fast rope Primary Authority to the Royal Marines 3 Commando Brigade.
Julian is considered an industry expert in commercial activities within complex environments.
